Powerful Minds!

Powerful Minds!

“Strong bodies and Powerful Minds”

It is our motto but what does it mean?

The physical and chemical changes that happen in the brain with regular exercise have been verified in clinical trials. Many have successfully used exercise to treat mental disorders including anxiety disorders and clinical depression, eliminating the need for medication!

Neurochemical proof: Aerobic exercise reduces both cortisol and adrenaline levels (your body’s stress hormones). Endorphins are released during and after exercise that are natural mood elevators and painkillers. Exercise also increases serotonin, the same neurotransmitter targeted by antidepressants.

Behavioral proof: As your body develops definition, balance, strength, coordination, and stamina your self-image, pride, sense of control, self-confidence, and energy skyrocket.

In the beginning, exercise may be more work than play. As your body gets into shape, your brain will begin to adapt to exercise, slowly you will begin to enjoy it, and finally you will depend on it!

So get moving and get happy!!

Kaia Girls Deserve The Best! An Update On Our Coaching Certification Weekend

I wanted to give a big shout out to our Temecula girls (up and coming Temecula coaches woot woot!!) who travelled up to Tahoe last weekend with me, studied for weeks, practiced for hours beforehand, and then endured three straight days of workouts, lectures and education, intense training and testing (fingers crossed) and so much more. All of this is in the efforts to provide YOU girls with excellent coaches. Afterall, it’s all about YOU! Helping you succeed and be the best Kaia girls you can be. So I thank you for being so welcoming to Alyssa and Maria as part of our Temecula Coaching Team!! They are outstanding Kaia girls and I KNOW they will be amazing Kaia Coaches. They are so full of love for Kaia, and each and every one of you girls. <3 Coach Becca

I also wanted to share the blog my mom wrote (Cynthia-Owner of Kaia Fallbrook). She expresses the essence of what she took away from this weekend, and I think it really encompasses what Kaia is all about. It’s amazing.

From Cynthia: Owner/Trainer Kaia FIT Fallbrook (AKA Mom)

“Certification for Kaia is so intense and packed with so much information it’s hard to assimilate it all.   However, I wanted to give you a taste of what it was about so that you can share in the intention of what’s behind it all.

Kristen Loos, one of the three owners, was speaking to the crowd of coaches and owners.  Keep in mind that most of these ladies are in their late 20’s or 30’s – some in their 40’s and 50’s, and most are super fit and look awesome.   In a nut shell she said, if you think this is about you, you’ll last about 2 minutes.  It’s not about you, it’s about your Kaia girls.  If you want to demo an exercise just so that others can see how strong and fit you are, you’re in it for the wrong reason.  Kaia is about service and helping women be the best that they can be.   I loved this because it brought everyone back to the starting point of Kaia and Nikki’s intention when she started this amazing program.

Kaia isn’t just an exercise program.  It’s about helping women be fit, healthy, centered, happy, and emotionally strong.   We sometimes joke about how men have a difficult time multi-tasking, when it comes so naturally to women.  Most women have to work, take care of children, grocery shop, prepare meals and school lunches, keep up with laundry, buy dog food, make time for homework, drive kids to doctor’s appointments, gymnastics, soccer, baseball, etc. etc.  Those who don’t have a family yet, may own four business’s (hello Becca), still do laundry, grocery shop, and you see where I’m going.  If we didn’t multi-task, the boat would soon sink.  So etching out time for ourselves – even if it’s just that one hour in the morning for Kaia is SOOOO important and it actually makes you BETTER at all these things, and better at LIFE.   Kristen drove the point home that Kaia is about creating a space for women where they can come without being judged or compared, get fit, lose weight, develop friendships, learn about proper nutrition and enjoy a booty kicking workout.

You, the Kaia Girls, are the heart of the program.  It’s so rewarding when I see your happy faces knowing that, from the inside out, you’re becoming the person that you’ve hoped to be; more fit (dang, it feels good to zip up skinny jeans and look hot), have the energy to be mentally present for your family at the end of the day, and most importantly to put your head on your pillow at night and know that you’ve  made good, positive changes in yourself and in turn, in your  family, by being the best Kaia woman that you know how to be!”

Mindful Nutrition

Week 2 of our “Love Me Up” Core Session we’re focusing on eating mindfully. Sure we come to every workout and are definitely getting stronger, fitter, and feeling better! Let’s work on what we do in those 23 other hours of our day:) Read over this week’s Fitness and Nutrition tip below!

NUTRITION TIP: Mindful nutrition: Work on incorporating these Tips when you eat: 1. Consciously Eat your food: Always make a conscious decision to eat – Ask yourself if you really want or need it. 2. Listen to Your body: Eat when you are slightly hungry and stop when you are slightly full. 3. Eat Slowly: Eating quickly is the main cause of overeating, by slowing down your pace of eating you become aware of your intake and able to eat more consciously. 4. Relax Into Eating: one of the greatest gifts you can give your body is to relax as you eat. Our culture is consumed with body image and weight which causes eating to become stressful for many of us and stress slows your metabolism. RELAX for 5 minutes and eat . 5. Clean up your toxic thoughts and beliefs: Food is the enemy, Fat in food causes me to gain weight, less food and more exercise =the ultimate weight loss (not always true). 6. If I were only THIN I would be happy – OUCH that is sad. These thoughts have a profound impact on your metabolism and your ability to relax into eating.

FIT TIP: Formula for success: There are no miracles, there isn’t anything out there that doesn’t require you to take action. It is simple, give into it, make it a part of your life, don’t overthink it and utilize the following to keep your mind in the right place about it: 1. Be consistent, 2. Follow an effective Exercise Program, 3. Set realistic goals, and 4. Use the Buddy System. HMMMM sounds like the key elements of the Kaia FIT program.

“Love Me Up” Week 1

 Welcome to Kaia F.I.T.!

Welcome to week 1 of the “Love Me Up” Core Session!! Many of you are probably thinking… what did I get myself into?? But don’t worry! It gets easier. Well, the workouts don’t get easier, but YOU get better so it starts to feel easier, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly. During week 1, you’re probably feeling sore, tired, maybe a little nauseous during workouts, but don’t let that scare you off. Don’t go back to your old, boring (or maybe non-existent routine!). In week 2, you’ll start to feel more confident, strong, fit, and maybe even you’re jeans may be fitting a little looser. It’s all worth it! I promise! Make the commitment to yourself. If you haven’t signed up yet… What are you waiting for! NOW is the time. Jump in with both feet and don’t look back.

New Kaia girls! I hope you are having fun and enjoying the workouts. Get to know your fellow Kaia girls, read over the manual, and start on cleaning up your diet.

Kaia Vets! Thanks for being so welcoming to all the newbies:) Your spirit, love and support are what make Kaia so special. Keep up the changes you’ve made and the progress you’ve acheived thus far. Stick strong with perfect attendance, following the 10 commandments and commit fully.

N.O.W.- (Nutrition Tip Of the Week) – Love me up…this week be very mindful about what you are feeding your body. With our focus on loving ourselves up this session let’s eat foods that make us feel loved and nourished. Focusing not on diet or what we can’t have but what our bodies need to thrive and feel loved. Make soup, smoothies and salads this week and put extra love into making them <3 <3 <3

F.I.T.- (Fit Tip) – Positive mantras: Find a mantra or positive affirmation for the challenging times in your day. Choose a mantra for your Kaia workout i.e. Finish strong, I have a strong body, I have a powerful mind or dig deep. When you feel overwhelmed throughout the day or when cravings hit, try breathing in 4 seconds and out for 6, say thank you, or I’m stronger and happier than yesterday .
